Historians who believe England's King Arthur wasn't even a Briton have built a huge sword in the stone in what they believe is his final resting place in Podstrana, Croatia. The group say Arthur was really Roman general Lucius Artorius Castus who stayed on in Britain to unite ancient tribes while his Roman leaders were leaving. "The general was born in a tiny village in Roman occupied Croatia and rose to great heights in the army. His mother Igrayne is believed to have given her name to a nearby village called Igrane. "We are not trying to take anything away from Britain. Arthur was a great British king, but we have to respect his roots," said one local historian. Central European News / Photonews

Eurovision hopeful Nina Badric has hit a sour note with her husband - by imposing a four month sex ban as she trains for the international song contest. Brunette Nina - who'll represent Croatia at the finals in Baku, Azerbaijan, in May - says she's determined to win after four failed attempts to grab the title. "This time I've decided to prepare myself in the best on any possible way, like an Olympic athlete or a boxer getting ready for a world title fight. "Therefore there will be no sex before June," she revealed to local media. Friends of Nina, 39, and her long suffering hubby Bernard Krasnic say the pair are currently making the most of a romantic quickie break before the singer begins her training. "He understands how important this is for Nina. All the cold showers will be worth it when she wins," explained one. Central European News / Photonews

An absent minded guest started a panic at a hotel in Werne, Germany, when he left his pet chameleon behind after checking out of the room. The 10-inch long reptile had escaped from its enclosure and stood motionless on the ground with it skin perfectly adapted to blend in with the carpet, just as it would in the wild. The lizard was only discovered when another guest tripped over it and ran screaming from the room. "The guest was very upset, the chameleon was very upset so we called the police who were able to catch the thing and take it away," said a hotel spokesman. The reptile is now recovering at a wildlife refuge while police trace its owner. Central European News / Photonews

A seven-year-old boy playing hide and seek with his pals thought he'd found the perfect hideaway - as he dangled by his hands from a fire escape ladder 80ft above a sheer drop onto a concrete alley. But as the youngster - from Xiamen, Fujian province, eastern China - waited and his friends didn't find him, Ming Hen found he couldn't pull himself back up to the roof of the apartment block where he lived with his parents. "He was hanging on for nearly an hour by which time his friends had long ago given up and gone home. We were called when someone in the street heard his screams for help," said a fire service spokesman. Ming explained: "I was fine at first but my hands got tired and cold and I knew I couldn't hold on much longer so I had to shout out." "I won't try that again, but I suppose I did win in the end," he added. Central European News / Photonews

A farmer has creamed off a fortune in chocolate - after one of his cows gave birth to a violet calf. Now owner Radmila Glavonjic - from Cacak, Serbia - has been showered with dozens of free boxes of goodies from the firm. "We're very lucky. He is an amazing little animal and who knows one day it might be him that people see on the chocolate wrappers," she said. Central European News / Photonews

A grief stricken boyfriend married his dead girlfriend at her funeral and then posted their wedding snaps on his Facebook page. TV producer Chadil Yuenying is seen in one video of the grim ceremony wearing a top hat and a tuxedo as he slides the wedding ring onto 'bride' Ann Kamsuk's finger at the ceremony in Surin, Thailand. The couple had frequently talked about marrying, but had never got round to it until Ann died suddenly, reports Polish Fakt newspaper and The German Herald newspaper of the bizarre service. He later told well wishers on his Facebook account: "In your eyes, our action might seem as a great love." "But for us, it is the mistake which we could not go back in time to correct. Remember, life is short. Do what you desire, and take good care of the people you love, be they your parents, your siblings. You might never get that chance again." Central European News / Photonews

A baffled dairy farmer told workers to pull the udder one when they told her a new calf had been born bright violet. The bullock - born in Cacak, Serbia - has been named 'Milka', after the Swiss chocolate that shows a purple cow on the wrapper. "I asked the vets why it had happened and they said it was some kind of freak genetic throwback," said owner Radmila Glavonjic. "I'm not sure how good he's going to be for breeding because even though he's lovely he does look a little odd. Maybe the Milka chocolate people will want him for their adverts," she added. A circus trainer who chains monkeys to BMX bikes and forces them to race each other has been attacked by animal rights campaigners in China. The trainer - snapped chasing after his troupe on a track in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, eastern China - forces the helpless primates to keep pedalling by chaining their necks to the handlebars. Many of the apes bear identifying tattoos and some have their fur scraped bare, apparently from falls and accidents. "You can see from their faces how miserable they are and those heavy chains must be agony for them. "We are looking for this man and his animals and when we find them we will prosecute him for cruelty," said animal welfare campaigner Ling Hu. Central European News / Photonews
