An igloo camp in which tourists can spend the night has opened at the Kitzsteinhorn glacier in Salzburg province, Austria. Organisers said reservations for a night at "Ice Camp 2010" can be made via www.ice-camp.at where special package deals including whirlpool and sauna visits, archery lessons and a night-time hike are on offer. Adventurers daring to stay in the ice-cold village are outfitted with special sleeping bags that offer protection against temperatures down to minus 40 degrees centigrade. Around 60 tonnes of ice and 5,000 cubic metres of snow were needed to set up the igloo village at 2,500 metres above sea level that will be open until mid-April. Organisers said people on holidays at the popular skiing resort would be invited to come and visit the camp, which features eleven igloos, an "Ice Bar" and an "Ice Lounge". CEN / Photonews

An ice church unique in Eastern Europe was opened at Balea Lac. The ice church, made of huge blocks of ice, is a replica of the old Germanic church in Malancrav village in Sibiu county where Prince Charles bought a property that he usually visits each year. At minus 20 degrees, the ice church is open to public and can host special events like weddings, its creators said. The ice church was opened next to the Ice Hotel at an altitude of 2,000 metres in the Fagaras mountains. The hotel has been receiving tourists since December. CEN / Photonews
