A white-hand gibbon baby nicknamed E.T. by carers after it was born last September "for being cute but ugly" has turned into a sweet monkey at Vienna’s Schoenbrunn Zoo, the oldest zoo in the world. E.T. has developed into a beautiful monkey with fluffy brown fur, while only the palms of its hands and feet are covered with white fur which gives the breed its name. E.T. is yet to receive an "official" name since its sex has not yet been determined. The young gibbon has become a crowd favourite. Zoo boss Dagmar Schratter said: "It stays with its mum Sipura for 95 per cent of a day’s time, but also likes to use the ladder or the swing. If it plays around too wildly, its mother grabs it."
